Safe Depressurization & Support: Fully lower the implement to the ground to relieve hydraulic pressure. Secure the cylinder rod and mechanically support the implement to prevent accidental movement.
Ultra-Clean Environment: Perform disassembly and assembly in a dedicated, clean area. Use a parts washer and lint-free wipes.
Sequential Disassembly: Carefully disassemble the gland. Document the order, orientation, and placement of every component with photos or notes.
Mandatory Metal Inspection: Use a micrometer and bore gauge to check the rod (for scratches, pitting, or scoring) and the cylinder tube ID (for wear, tapering, or scoring). Replace damaged metal components.
Proper Seal Installation: Lubricate all new seals with clean hydraulic fluid. Use seal installation tools (cone tools, sleeves) to guide seals over threads and sharp edges without damage. Ensure seals are seated squarely in their grooves.
Precision Torquing: During reassembly, use a calibrated torque wrench. Follow Komatsu's specified torque sequence and values for gland bolts, tie-rods, or end caps precisely.
| Application Sector | Primary Equipment | Symptoms Addressed by This Kit |
|---|---|---|
| Excavation & Earthmoving | Komatsu Hydraulic Excavators (PC Series) | Cylinder drift (boom/arm drop), visible hydraulic oil leakage from rod gland, slow or weak cylinder operation, increased oil consumption. |
| Construction & Demolition | Implement Cylinders (Boom, Arm, Bucket) | Loss of digging force, inability to hold load, hydraulic system overheating due to internal leakage. |
| Heavy Equipment Maintenance | Planned Rebuilds & Emergency Repairs | Restores factory sealing performance, prevents environmental contamination from leaks, and is a cost-effective alternative to complete cylinder replacement. |
