Installation decomposition diagram
Cleanliness: Ensure the component groove, mating piston/rod, and cylinder bore are impeccably clean and free of debris or burrs.
Inspection: Before installation, inspect the mating metal surfaces for scoring, gouges, or excessive wear that could affect the wear ring's performance or cause premature failure.
Fit Check: The wear ring should be a snug fit in its designated groove without excessive play. It should slide over the mating metal surface with light, even pressure.
Installation Method: For a tight fit, slightly warm the wear ring in clean, hot water (not exceeding 180°F / 82°C) to increase pliability. Use a smooth, flat tool to press it evenly into its groove. Never cut or file the ring to fit.
Final Check: Once installed, ensure the wear ring sits flush and square in its groove. Verify that the piston or rod can move freely within the cylinder bore without binding.
